An Alternative Opportunity
Since 1982 I've taken advantage of lots of opportunities as an 'on my terms' project/ideas developer-some in an employee capacity! - and more recently as a solo-entrepreneur
In my final role working for someone else I worked for an organisation as a project developer/manager after being employed in a variety of roles for 30 years, I'm always looking for new opportunities and challenges, ha! Hence the variety of roles. In 2011 I was introduced to a health and wellness direct sales company which interested me as I'd always fancied direct sales so I approached a distributor in my local area, registered and left the organisation, I did find however find there were some questionable 'claims' by some of the reps (more on this another time!)
In September 2011 I decided to take advantage of an opportunity that came my way, I enrolled at the local University on a complementary medicine degree -as I have a keen interest in natural health (especially Aromatherapy) and Nutrition.
I stepped out of my comfort zone as one of the modules was Anatomy and Physiology and Science was a challenge when I was at school, the day I collected my pass mark was a huge milestone for me personally. My project development and leadership skills came in very handy when we were asked to formulate teams to design and develop a project.
After qualifying, I provided a freelance service for a couple of therapy centres however my plan has always been to set up my own home business (Holistic Life-Styles for Women ) and serve my own clients. I considered renting a room locally, however, I decided it was not for me as I did not want to be tied to one place in a town centre (freedom rules!).
Self-Care is so important when you are busy working and there are many ways to take care of yourself. I listen to my body and take time out to relax, I enjoy massage and essential oils. See my blog post about essential oils and working at home here.
I joined a few Direct Sales companies along the way too however I soon decided the industry was not for me. If you are a therapist and you are considering joining a direct sales company, I've written a post for you which includes some of my insights.
Read it here
My service now includes an online consulting service too for busy self-employed and employed ladies.
*****Disclaimer**** The use of the word Alternative relates to the title only not Therapies which I promote as Complementary.
