So! You have been approached by a representative of one of the direct sales/MLM/network marketing companies or for whatever reason you quite fancy the idea of adding another income stream to your business.
You may be wondering what value it will add to you and your existing business and for your clients? I've been asked for my personal view on this subject many times, hence my blog post.
I have experience working with three direct sales companies, perhaps this is why I'm asked, which I chose for three different reasons as my business evolved. I now choose not to work with any brand but there are lots of companies to choose from out there as I found when I carried out my own research.
- The 1st direct sales company I joined was when I decided to move on from projects as I'd always had an interested in health and beauty. Read more here
- The 2nd one I joined was because I was keen to start offering online services, therefore, I decided that the online system they offered was very appealing meaning I could run it alongside my new online business, not to mention the cosmetics case too! It was fast moving too which is just up my street. I decided however that the products do not fit in with my brand and I moved on, plus I only wear mascara and lipstick so most of the products were of no use to me!
- My 3rd Direct Sales company was a little more suited to my clients and the type of service I offer, as the products include aromatherapy based skincare and essential oils, in fact, I use some of these products for business and personal, therefore, when I moved on from Direct Sales/MLM I decided to apply to become an affiliate.
Here are a few of my insights.
#1. Have you used the product?
Testing the products beforehand will provide you with some idea as to whether you like them and also a chance to offer some samples to your clients or use in your therapy sessions.
#2. Who wants to sponsor you?
Have you researched the person wanting to sponsor you? Have a look at their social media accounts or website? Do they have an in-depth knowledge of the products they are selling? (TIP - They should do.) Do they act professionally?
I have many more insights. Want to know more?
Good luck and I hope you make the right choice for you and your business. Above all try and do what is right for you and your unique service, If you are anything like me you won't like too many rules being imposed.
