Are you interested in experiencing the effects of Aromatherapy (DIY style)?
This is a post about ways I use Essential Oils throughout the home and when I'm out and about although I suggest you contact your Aromatherapist if you need a tailored blend or personal advice.
Diffusers for Home or Office
Which Diffuser to choose?
I’ve got three at the moment in different parts of the house (although I've brought them all together for the pic!)
I purchased this one from one company , it changes colour as it diffuses which is a great plus and it switches itself off when it has diffused the oils. I use this one in my home office.
I purchased this one some time ago and it's great for the kitchen, as it is small it needs refilling regularly, I use Essential Oil in the kitchen when cooking.. I'm not sure whether you can still buy this particular type however there are lots of other choices available.
I purchased this one from someone who was selling them at an event where I was attending with one of my stalls. This has a larger capacity than the other two therefore great for the main living area.
All the diffusers are plug in types however you can always use the tea light holder method which is still a great way to enjoy the effects of Aromatherapy (however as you probably already know the general guideline is to not leave unattended).
In the Bath
When studying we were advised to suggest to clients to dilute the Essential Oils with milk before adding to the bath, I'm personally not keen on this idea I prefer adding to carrier oil. Diluting the essential oil is advised as you may be sensitive to a particular oil, or you can use one of the pre-blended bath oils suitable for this purpose.
Always check the supplier's guidelines and whether the Essential Oil is suitable for using in the bath, as some are not.
When my children were younger and they couldn’t sleep because of exams for example I sprinkled a few drops of lavender on the pillow and it worked a treat.
I always choose Essential Oil-based skincare which is a particular preference of mine. I love using a Frankincense range although I do like trying out new brands.
How good is this, as an aromatherapist I’ve been aware and used essential oil jewellery for some time. You may want to check out the link below if you want to take a look at some great choices.
Essential Oil Car Diffusers are great although I’d be careful about using relaxing oils on a long journey and ones that are light sensitive. (Always follow manufacturer’s guidelines)
Essential Oil Bracelets
Again, just like the essential oil necklaces, the essential oil bracelets a great way to carry a blend close to you to gain the effects.
This company (Affiliate Link) provides the most ethical choice of products (in my opinion), my affiliate link is above if you fancy having a browse.
If you are storing Essential Oils at home the general advice (check with your aromatherapist) is to keep in a wooden box and always look out for brown or blue glass bottles.
I love the roller balls particularly useful if you want to carry in your bag, you can use on the pressure points on the wrist or take the advice of the manufacturer. I sometimes choose to use pre-blended ones.
If you know what you are doing and want to use for your own oils for personal use there are sets you can buy for this purpose.
I find Aromatherapy candles create a lovely aroma and ambience in and around the home, they tend to be ethical too. There are lots to choose from on the market. Currently I'm spoilt for choice!
Pot Pourri Tip
I add a few drops of a particular Essential Oil to the Pot Pourri I have at home as a refresher.
I hope this post has provided a few useful ideas for you to be able to experience Aromatherapy at Home. However always check with your Aromatherapist if unsure and follow supplier's safety guidelines when using Essential Oils.
I use this Essential Oil UK based company (Affiliate Link) to purchase the Essential Oils I use.
